Välkomna till ett avslappnat och prestigelöst boksamtal med Lesbisk Makt! Inför den här träffen läser vi Leslie Feinbergs Stone Butch Blues. Vi ses i Page 28:s lokaler i Malmö där vi fikar tillsammans och pratar om det vi läst och vad det fått oss att tänka och känna, helt utan press och prestationskrav!
Det går bra att komma på bokcirkeln även om du inte läst ut boken.

Kort om boken:
Stone Butch Blues följer Jess Goldberg, en butch som växer upp i nordöstra USA under 1960- och 1970-talet. Berättelsen skildrar en queer verklighet full av smärta, våld, kamp och ensamhet, men också kärlek, hopp och gemenskap. Romanen är Leslie Feinbergs första bok och har blivit en klassiker bland queers sedan den utkom år 1993. Den svenska översättningen gjordes av Ylva Emel Karlsson och kom ut 2024. Triggervarning: Våld, inklusive våldtäkt.

Tillgänglighet och språk:
Lokalen är tillgänglig med rullstol. RWC finns tillgänglig fram till klockan 20.00 i Foodcourten på MittMöllan.
Eftersom den här boken finns att läsa på både svenska och engelska så kan boksamtalet vid behov komma att ske på engelska. Vi gör vårt bästa för att anpassa oss efter situationen och hjälpa varandra!
Om bokcirkeln:
Lesbisk Makt Malmö planerar att hålla flera boksamtal. Det blir troligtvis totalt fyra bokträffar under våren med 5-6 veckors mellanrum.
Detta är vår bokcirkels första träff och vi strävar efter att det ska bli en så inkluderande, välkomnande och positiv upplevelse som möjligt för alla deltagare. Vi vill att man ska våga dyka upp även om man aldrig varit med i bokklubb förut och oavsett hur erfaren man är som läsare. Alla deltar efter förmåga, lust och dagsform! Du måste inte komma på varje boksamtal för att vara med i bokcirkeln.
För vem?
Alla som är lesbiska eller intresserade av lesbiskhet och som identifierar sig som kvinnor, icke-binära och/eller har transerfarenhet får vara med. Läs mer om vår värdegrund här.

Lesbisk Makt är en nationell förening som bidrar till att skapa en stark lesbisk folkrörelse. Vi behöver medlemmar i föreningen för att kunna fortsätta skapa viktiga lesbiska events och mötesplatser. Come as you are and discuss your thoughts and opinions after reading the book while having some Fika :) It is completely free and you do not sign up for any long term commitments! We are going to be hosting more book discussions later on but you are free to only attend the ones of your choosing!

About the book:
Stone Butch Blues is about Jess Goldblum, a butch lesbian that grows up in the 1960s and 70s Northeastern USA. The story depicts a queer reality full of hate, violence, and loneliness, but also love, hope and community. The novel is Leslie Feinbergs first and was released in 1994, and has become a classic within the LGBTQ+ community. In 2024 it was released in Swedish, translated by Ylva Emel Karlsson. Trigger warning for rape and violence, including sexual violence.

Accessibility and language:
There is wheelchair accessibility at the location and a RWC at the Foodcourt at MittMöllan.
Due to the book being available in both English and Swedish, there is room for the discussion to be conducted in both of these languages based on who's attending. We do our best to help each other out, assuring that everyone feels welcome and gets a chance to voice their opinions :)
About the book circle:
Lesbisk Makt Malmö plans on hosting more discussion later on this spring, there is most likely going to be four in total. More information to come down the line! By attending one meeting, you do not have to attend all of them! You are more than welcome to only attend the ones for the books that interest you!
This is the first meeting for our book circle and we strive towards creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, and a positive experience for everyone attending! We want you to feel welcome to attend even if you've not attended a bookclub before and aren't an experienced reader! We do the best to help each other!
